Amy Horton

Amy Horton brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership, humanitarian service, fundraising, emergency response, and preparedness experience to her role as Executive Director of Hunterdon Helpline.

Her career began in community-based nonprofit organizations in the United States, where she served in roles supporting underserved communities, refugees, and children. She later spent more than 20 years with the United Nations World Food Programme, leading large-scale humanitarian operations and providing expertise in emergency preparedness, strategic planning, crisis response, and organizational development in support of vulnerable populations around the world.

Amy’s professional experience is complemented by her personal journey as a caregiver for her mother and as the parent of a neurodiverse child. She and her husband, a former international journalist and humanitarian worker, share a lifelong commitment to service and supporting communities in need.

As Executive Director, Amy is focused on strengthening Hunterdon Helpline’s long-term sustainability, expanding partnerships, increasing community awareness, and ensuring individuals and families have access to the support they need to thrive.
