Hunterdon Helpline is entering an exciting new chapter of growth, revitalization, and renewed community engagement. Guided by dedicated leadership and strengthened by both new and longstanding Board members, staff, and volunteers, the organization is building upon more than five decades of service while honoring the compassion, commitment, and institutional knowledge of those who have shaped its history.

Together, we remain deeply committed to ensuring Hunterdon Helpline continues to be a trusted source of information, support, and hope for individuals and families throughout Hunterdon County. Through thoughtful stewardship, strong community partnerships, and a shared sense of purpose, we are advancing a legacy of caring and service within our community.

Our leadership team reflects a blend of experience, fresh perspectives, and a collective dedication to serving others. Drawing upon backgrounds in healthcare, law, business, education, nonprofit leadership, humanitarian response, and community service, they bring valuable expertise and a shared commitment to strengthening Hunterdon Helpline for generations to come.

Meet Our Team

Amy Horton

Executive Director

Amy Horton brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership, humanitarian service, fundraising, emergency response, and preparedness experience to her role as Executive Director of Hunterdon Helpline.

Robert “Bob” Wise

Trustee

Robert “Bob” Wise is a new member of the Hunterdon Helpline Board of Trustees, but a familiar and respected leader throughout Hunterdon County. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and a Master’s degree in Public Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

Elaine Skarl

Secretary, Board of Trustees

Elaine Skarl has been a dedicated volunteer with Hunterdon Helpline for fifteen years and has served on the Board of Trustees for the past five years.

Ellen McArdle

President, Board of Trustees

Ellen McArdle lives on the farm in Alexandria Township where she grew up. She attended Alexandria Township Elementary School and graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School before earning degrees from Marymount College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Columbia University.

Robert Coates, MD

Treasurer, Board of Trustees

Robert Coates, MD joined the Hunterdon Helpline Board of Trustees in November 2025 and also serves as a Volunteer Shopper, helping support older adults and homebound residents throughout the community.

Robert “Bobby” Papazian

Trustee

Robert (“Bobby”) Papazian joined the Hunterdon Helpline Board of Trustees in November 2025. He is an attorney with Gebhardt & Kiefer, P.C., Hunterdon County’s oldest law firm, where he specializes in commercial litigation and appellate law.

Laine Nauman

Trustee

Laine Nauman is a seasoned human services and nonprofit leader with more than three decades of experience in social work, public administration, behavioral health, housing, and community-based services. She served as Division Head for Hunterdon County’s Division of Senior, Disabilities and Veterans’ Services, where she led the Area Agency on Aging.
