Ellen McArdle

Ellen McArdle lives on the farm in Alexandria Township where she grew up. She attended Alexandria Township Elementary School and graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School before earning degrees from Marymount College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Columbia University.

In 2015, she retired from Raritan Valley Community College after a distinguished 44-year career in higher education. One of the most meaningful experiences of her career was teaching in New Jersey prisons through a program that enabled incarcerated individuals to earn college degrees.

Ellen joined the Hunterdon Helpline Board in the early 2000s and currently serves as President. She also volunteers as a Friendly Visitor, Volunteer Shopper, and literacy tutor, and spends time in the Helpline office each week supporting daily operations.

Her longstanding dedication to service exemplifies Hunterdon Helpline’s mission of neighbors helping neighbors.
